Small Group Opportunities

Bible Studies

Bible studies offer opportunities to delve a little deeper into the Bible, meet new people, and serve together as a community.

Book Studies

Several times a year, CtK offers seasonal book studies focusing on a variety of topics.

Recently, two groups have been meeting over Zoom to discuss "Dialogues on Race,"
a reader produced by the ELCA.

A group will meet beginning in September (likely over Zoom as well) to read and discuss  "Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the US"

For more info, contact Intern Pastor  Pepe

Growing Through Loss

Growing Through Loss is a grief and loss support ministry sponsored by the North Suburban Grief Support Coalition. This coalition of 19 area churches hosts several six-week series designed to address both educational and support needs around a variety of loss and grief issues.

Cristo Rey

Cristo Rey (meaning Christ the King in Spanish) is a new mission in development that seeks to reach out to our neighbors in the Latino community.

Elders in Action

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Elders in Action provides social activities, opportunities for volunteer service, community outreach, educational programs, and spiritual growth for the 55+ community.
More on Elders in Action
Prayer Shawl Ministry works to help provide prayer shawls to comfort our members in need.  They also make baptism blankets/shawls for the newly baptized at CtK.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one care to individuals in our community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

Women of the ELCA Circles

Circles offer a time to socialize and focus on Bible study. Each member subscribes to the monthly women’s magazine, “Gather”, which includes the Bible study for that month.

Create Your Own Small Group

There are a number of ways to connect, study, pray, and serve together. Plant a community garden. Organize a cross-country skiing or snowshoeing group. Whatever your interest or place in your faith journey, we can make a small group for that.

If you’re interested in joining a small group at Christ the King or in creating your own, fill in the form below.

Fill out the form below to sign up or learn more about any of our many learning opportunities for adults. We’re always looking for volunteers to lead and help too! We look forward to seeing you join a small group soon!

Or if you have specific questions, you can contact Pastor John Schwehn.
