MARCH IS MINNESOTA FOOD SHARE MONTH
Christ the King will be collecting donations of food and funds throughout March for Ralph Reeder Food Shelf.

Food shelves are facing increasing demand in the face of higher food prices. As a result, the “Grocery List of Needs” is comprehensive. Bring food donations to the display in the narthex – or - make a monetary donation, either to Christ the King designated for “Food Shelf” or directly to Ralph Reeder at 2544 Mounds View Blvd, Mounds View, MN or at https://www.moundsviewschools.org/foodshelf.
(Remember that for every dollar donated Ralph Reeder can purchase 8 pounds of food!)

Racial Justice SALT Sessions

A special four-session SALT series is coming to Christ the King. In order to work for racial justice, there are truths that must be faced, even about the faith practiced in most Minnesota churches. We will face the truths hidden in white Christian beliefs, open our eyes more clearly to the future, and our role in it.
  • February 26 - Michael O. Emerson, Ph.D., Head of the Sociology Department, University of Illinois at Chicago, will share research from his forthcoming book, The Grand Betrayal: The Agonizing Story of Religion, Race, and Rejection in American Life, from a keynote presentation delivered November 5, 2022, sponsored by Minnesota Council of Churches, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis (https://youtu.be/KtnmxSYH_vM?t=2203).  He will show "how the 'religion of whiteness' has taken precedence over Scripture in the belief systems of most white churchgoing Christians”.  An entire religion has developed around the worship of the dominance, centrality, privilege, and assumed universality of being white. This will be the premise for the following three sessions. Questions will be noted, to be answered by subsequent live speakers.
  • March 12 - Rev. Pamela Ngunjiri (pronounced ‘go jeri’), Co-Director for Racial Justice, Minnesota Council of Churches, and ordained Itinerant Elder in the AME (African Methodist Episcopal) Church, will highlight points on white supremacy and it’s entanglement with the Christian church, which are a focus of her dissertation for the Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership at Bethel University.  She will also answer select questions from Session 1.
  • March 26 - Felicia A. Boone, a DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Consultant for Hennepin County, the Vice-President of the Minneapolis Area Synod of the ELCA, a member of the Board of Regents at Wartburg College (ELCA), and leads/collaborates on a range of committees as a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, will speak to us through a racial equity lens, and answer select questions from Session 1.
  • April 30 - Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs, a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican nation located in central Wisconsin, with degrees in Pastoral Studies and Christian Theology, currently parish associate at Church of All Nations Presbyterian, and Co-Director of Racial Justice for the Minnesota Council of Churches, will raise our awareness of American Indian causes and injustices, ensuring that the Native American voice is heard in areas where it has long been ignored.
All sessions will be in the Trinity Rooms from 10:45 to 11:50 AM.  If the first session is missed, it can also be watched on YouTube (copy above link), by starting at approximately 0:36:40, and expanding to Full screen for optimal viewing.  For any further questions, please contact Don A. Zatroch.

A Note from the Brew Crew

Dear Members of CtK - Brew Crew needs help!!

When we think of worship, we usually picture singing on Sundays. That is indeed a wonderful way to raise praises to the Lord, but we can also worship through the work of ministry – i.e. social ministry/Brew Crew!

Do you ever wonder who is responsible for getting the delicious doughnuts and aromatic coffee ready for us  following our church service?

Yes! It is our very reliable and cheerful Brew Crew members who are ‘at the ready’ to serve, following each of our Sunday services.

Our Brew Crew volunteers exemplify time, energy, and heart. This team has committed approximately 5-6 serving times during the year to make your Sundays even more special, enabling you to socialize while enjoying delicious treats.

The skill set required to be a Brew Crew member is easy! One must be able to set out doughnuts, fill a coffee filter and press a button, set a table, and clean up afterwards! Oh, and a smile is required to help make someone’s day brighter!

Consider joining our Brew Crew team by contacting either Ron and Carol Gordon (rrcgordon@comcast.net) or Nick (nick@lifeatctk.org). We would love to have you!

Hospitality is ministry!!

These coffee sessions will be the last Wednesday of each month, at 10:00 AM, in the Fireside Room.
Each month will feature a speaker on a relevant topic.
