“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
Psalm 150:6 grounds us in our Core Value, “Christ-centered Worship”. In reflecting on this verse, specific emotions come to mind that are often associated with a state of praise and worship: gratitude, awe, joy.
When we navigate difficult situations in life, sometimes these positive feelings are not top of mind. Stress, grief or fear may bubble up when we are facing uncertainty. Praising the Lord does not mean we hide what is hard in our lives. It means we openly acknowledge and lay our burdens before God so that we may feel the breadth and depth of God’s grace.
When we lead with praise and gratitude, we draw from the many blessings we experience and the ways in which God’s love strengthens us. We harness the courage and clarity that comes with recognizing God’s grace in all moments, even (and especially) when life gets hard.
Christ-centered worship is not only calling all that has breath to praise the Lord; it empowers each of us with every breath to embody gratitude and praise. Not just on Sunday morning, not just in prayer - but in every moment and every interaction.
Just as breathing is a constant current that nourishes us, practicing gratitude and praise in daily life can guide our path, our thinking and our decisions in the world.
Our mission to follow Jesus Christ by loving God and God’s people guides all aspects of our lives. And with Jesus Christ at the center of worship - both our time together and in our individual moments of praise - we are equipped to grow, evolve and strengthen all the ways that CtK shows up in the world.
As we prepare and plan for the ministry campaign, we have an opportunity to demonstrate our gratitude and praise for all that God has provided by contributing our time, talents and financial gifts to the breadth of projects that will enable our vision for the future of Christ the King to come to life. You can expect to receive materials in the mail over the next couple of weeks to support your reflection and planning for the ministry campaign. Also look for more details on a collaborative art project on Saturday, April 26th. Together we can demonstrate our thanks to God by investing in the growth and future of CtK.
