“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God” - 1 John 4:7

As we enter the month of June, we celebrate Pride Month with gratitude for the diversity of God’s beloved children and commitment to welcome, inclusion, and justice for our LGBTQIA+ siblings, which is rooted in one of our core values, Embrace All God’s Children.

As a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation through ReconcilingWorks, we publicly affirm that people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions are fully welcome in the life and leadership of our church. Being RIC means we are committed not only to hospitality, but also to ongoing learning, advocacy, and faithful accompaniment as we work toward equity and belonging for all. In April, Ross Murray presented at the church council and staff retreat and many action items in various ministries were identified from that presentation.

Throughout June, you will notice Pride themes woven into worship as we celebrate God’s expansive love and reflect on our call to be a community of welcome and justice. Visit CtK’s library for books to read, like the recent additions of The Everyday Advocate and Made, Known, Loved. We also invite you to visit the Racial Justice bulletin board to learn about local Pride events, opportunities for education and advocacy, and ways to participate in our broader community during Pride Month.

And please mark your calendars now for Saturday, September 12, when we will participate in the Columbia Heights Pride celebration. More details will be shared later this summer, but we hope many from our congregation will join in this joyful community event.
