Pastor Peter began his ministry at CtK's lead pastor in January, 2014. His call is to interpret the vision and lead the overall ministry of Christ the King. As head of staff, he oversees staff development and provides input to lay leadership groups including the congregational council and personnel, finance, and generosity teams. He helps facilitate the crafting of our worship life, serving as the preacher about half of the time, both on Sundays and on special occasions.
Ordained in 1994, Pastor Peter has a BA from Luther College, majoring in History and African Studies; a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA; and a Doctor of Ministry from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA. He has served as a youth minister at St. Andrew’s in Mahtomedi, a street chaplain in Berkeley and San Francisco, Calif., a solo pastor in Brattleboro, Vermont, and more recently an interim pastor in Apple Valley, St. Paul, and Forest Lake. For nearly ten years, he served as ELCA Global Mission Personnel in Dakar, Senegal, directing an interfaith community education center, leading a translation and resource development program, and helping to establish an institute for pastoral formation within the Lutheran Church of Senegal. Pastor Peter is married to Sarah Grow, a yoga instructor and international educator. They recently moved into a new empty-nest condo in St. Paul. They have two sons: Elijah is a recent graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, and Simon is a sophomore at McGill University in Montréal, Quebec. |
