“Everything Will Be Alright.”
I’m afraid to fly. I was on a plane recently returning from a trip when the flight became extremely turbulent and bumpy. The three-year-old in the seat behind me became quite scared and told his mom his tummy felt “bubbly” and asked her if “the plane was going to fall”. His mom, with absolute assurance and calm replied “it’s going to get bouncy but everything will be alright”. The kid said “okay.” The turbulence subsided and everything was alright.”
This reminded me of how it must have felt sometimes to be a Christian in Hebrews 12:1-3 when we are told that when life gets bouncy to look to Jesus for strength and guidance. Focus on witness and endurance to grow in our faith. Believe those who have led the way living out loud their Christian values. Trust Jesus for purpose and joy will certainly follow in your life and faith. As that mother told her three year old “everything is going to be alright.” And, so it is with Jesus.
Believe it. I do.
Let us pray. Dear God, give me courage and endurance to grow in my Christian faith as joy will most certainly be mine. Amen.
