As I studied today’s scripture, Psalm 126, I turned to my well-worn copy of Psalms/Now by Leslie Brandt. This is what he shares concerning verses 4 – 6:
“The day before us is uncertain. We know not what we will encounter on our way. While we rejoice with those who rejoice, we shall also weep with those who suffer. While we may be surprised by ecstasy, we may also pass through corridors of darkness. Wherever we go, we go forth as servants of the living God and we go forth to touch the lives of all people with His healing love. Let us begin this day with rejoicing, and return to our homes with gladness!”
I guess today is a lot like many of our days. My plans however carefully made often change with little or no control on my part. Sometimes the changes lead to wonder and great excitement and happiness; sometimes the changes lead to frustration and sorrow. The one constant I can always rely upon is that God is walking beside me no matter what happens.
Let us Pray: My prayer today, my 83rd birthday, is that I seize every opportunity to touch the lives of God’s people with love and caring, reflecting His great love for me. Amen.
