Have you ever been part of a march or a rally? Maybe the Women’s March or a rally in support of Black Lives Matter. There’s a certain energy that passes between participants and ignites one another to champion a common cause. People join the crowd, riding the wave of excitement whether or not they know all the details. There’s a sense of pride, even urgency, as the crowd conveys its message through signs and chants.
March 24 marked the one year anniversary of the March for Our Lives when over a million youth, including my own son, rallied across the USA in support of sensible gun laws. These youth channeled their energy and their purpose into an eloquent message that no one was going to control. I imagine that there was that kind of excitement and energy the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem. This Jesus guy was someone worth following, worth getting on board with his message. This was someone with so much promise that even the stones would cry out.
Let us pray. Lord Jesus, help me to listen closely, to follow you and to get on board with your message. Amen.
