(Focus on verse 5.) “He gives life to all people on earth, to everyone who walks on earth.”
Consider international conversations about immigration, and many changes societies are forced to make on other issues. Most conversations are across the world, even at CtK. Verse 6 says, “I, the Lord, called you to do right…”
“Right” according to whose standards? “Right” for our preferences or those inherent in “what would Jesus do?” We manage to adapt to technology. People stuff, that’s tough. Our fences / defenses seem to rise quickly. When I was 5, living in a farming community, I wondered why people said mean things about migrant farm helpers or about Catholics! I’m still confused about that. This world is God’s creation – everyone is. Look over the fence. Humans all get grey hair; we all get wrinkles. We ARE His children in our sameness, DNA and all. How does scripture’s “do right” fit in our lives and actions?
Let us pray. Creator of all, Help us to open our minds for clarity and understanding, open our eyes that we see each other more clearly, and open our hearts to “do right” as you commanded. Amen.
