This Psalm is labeled “Thanksgiving for Victory” in my Everyday Study Bible. It is not always easy to see or feel the victories in our own lives and in the lives of those around us, particularly those closest to us who may be struggling with job challenges or health challenges or whatever. It leads us to ask the question: why do bad things happen to good people?
My mother always used the phrase “God works in mysterious ways”. Though there is no direct biblical documentation of this phrase, I feel there is implied documentation throughout the bible and more direct implications in hymns like Amazing Grace. We cannot possibly understand or comprehend all of the wonders of God’s love, but we are promised He loves us unconditionally and is with us at all times.
Let us pray. Dear God, thank you for your love and all of our countless blessings. Help us and guide us in all that we say and do. Help us to love and care for one another as you love and care for us. Amen.
