ELCA Scholarships continue to support education

One of the hallmarks of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is its emphasis on quality higher education. ELCA colleges and universities consistently contribute to the leadership of the church on all levels. For the past fifteen years, CtK has been proud to offer a scholarship of $1,000 per year to each our young people who attend one of the 26 ELCA colleges or universities. These ELCA colleges in turn provide matching funds of an additional $1,000 per year per student. This coming year, we are committed to support these nine students:

Emma Stivers, Luther

Hope Knoppel, Concordia

Mari Erickson, Augsburg

Madison Brauer, Luther

Isaac Stivers, Luther

Alexis Weierke, Gustavus Adolphus

Lauren Sravya Lowe, Gustavus Adolphus

Elijah Grow-Hanson, Pacific Lutheran

Andrew Willner, Saint Olaf

These students will be recognized as CtK-ELCA Scholarship recipients at both our 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday, June 5.

Due to the importance of this program, this scholarship fund will appear as a line item in CtK’s annual Budget for Ministry starting in 2017. During this transitional year of 2016, money to fund these scholarships will be drawn from the “first fruits” of the upcoming Capital Appeal. Of course, if you would like to make an additional gift to this scholarship fund above and beyond your regular offering contribution, you may do so at any time noting “ELCA Scholarship” in the memo line of your check and offering envelope.
