Pastor Deborah Birkeland is retiring from ministry at the end of March after 24 years of ordained service, ten of those years in service to CtK. Join us as we thank her for her years of dedication and care. The celebration will include a meal and program.

You're invited to the Ordination and Installation of John Schwehn, CtK's new Associate Pastor

Saturday, April 9, 2:00 p.m. 
John Schwehn has been called to serve as our associate pastor starting in April. Please join us as John receives the wider church's blessing for this ministry of word and sacrament. Bishop Patricia Lull of the Saint Paul Area Synod will preside and Pastor Jason Van Hunnik will preach. A light reception of cake and punch will follow. Clergy and other rostered leaders are invited to process with vestments appropriate to their tradition. Don’t miss Global Mission Sunday at CtK!

Sunday, April 10, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
Join us to celebrate our global mission in God’s world and the recent safe return of CtK’s 2016 Tanzania travelers. Two of those travelers, Pastor Peter Hanson and Courtney Hess, will be our speakers for the day. Other highlights:
  • Festive decorations, worshippers in clothing from around the world, special music, and more!
  • Offerings to support education in Tanzania
  • Shopping at the Tanzanian Bazaar in the Fireside Room

Elders in Action present three opportunities for faith and fellowship

CtK's vibrant 55+ ministry—Elders in Action or EiA—has big plans for March and April:

Elders in Action Coffee and Social Hour
Wednesday, March 30, 9:30 a.m.
EiA will host monthly social hours with plenty of coffee and fellowship. Upcoming Social Hours are also coming up on April 27 and May 25. No signup needed!

Creating a Personal Sabbath
Wednesday, April 6 and 13, 4:00 p.m.
It is time to say goodbye to our noisy world by creating a personal Sabbath. Little used spiritual practices will be experienced that create a refuge within allowing us to feel God’s Presence. On April 6 and 13, the Rev. Ted Kalkwarf will explore the role of the mind in our prayer life and what we can do to enhance          meditation time. This program begins at 4:00 p.m. and is an outgrowth of Elders in Action.

Savor Life Educational and Resource Fair
Tuesday, April 26, 3:30-7:50 p.m.
Boomers, seniors, and caregivers are invited to find answers on your options and resources at the Savor Life Educational and Resource Fair organized by Savvy Senior Sources and hosted by EiA. Event will feature special guest Jeff Schmidt, an elder law attorney, along with other panelists and professionals to answer your questions and provide information. The $10 cost includes meal and a copy of the Savvy Senior Sources Guide [a $15.95 value]. Register online or by calling 651-770-8462. With pre-registration and payment, the attendees name will be entered for a door prize drawing.

Donate to the ASP Silent Auction by April 6

Donations due April 6
Raise money for our summer youth mission trip by donating to the silent auction by April 6 and then bidding generously on April 17. Register your donation online.

Take a tag, donate supplies to VBS

We need your help with collecting supplies for Vacation Bible School. To donate, visit the VBS donation table in the narthex, take a tag, and sign in with the donation you plan to bring. We will be collecting supply donations now through Sunday, April 3.

Get involved with the CtK Community Garden 

Be a part of growing fresh vegetables and flowers for your table and providing food to our local food shelf.
Several plots in the garden will grow produce for the local food shelf and the rest will be rented to local gardeners. Private 10’X10’ plots for a $25 fee. Water and tools will be  provided. Contact ctkcommunitygarden@gmail.com to reserve your plot and get more information.
