Press ReleaseNEW BRIGHTON, Minn.--Christ the King is excited to welcome Jim Lindstrom who will serve as the Interim Choir Director at Christ the King, from Feb. 1-May 31.
Lindstrom retired in 2009 from a career as a high school choral director in Forest Lake. He currently works full-time in the insurance industry, while directing the adult choir and serving as assistant organist at Faith Lutheran Church, Forest Lake, a position he has held since 1981.
The interim choir director position is a quarter-time position (approximately 10-12 hours per week) focusing primarily on directing the Sanctuary Choir, and secondarily on directing the various vocal ensembles such as Christ’s Kingsmen, Glory Sound, and Revelation.
Additional tasks currently part of the Minister of Music job description (such as worship planning, hymn selection, arranging seasonal music, and supervising music department staff) will be covered by others during this transition, with the hope of conducting a search process to have a new full-time Director of Worship and Music in place on or around June 1.
In a letter to staff, Pastor Peter said, “Jim has been very enthusiastic about the possibilities of working with the Sanctuary Choir and other musical ensembles here at Christ the King, to help maintain the quality of musical leadership that has long been part of our ministry tradition here. The interview committee felt that Jim would be a good fit with the current ministry team here at CtK and that he would also bring many needed gifts during this time of transition.”
Lindstrom will officially begin his time at CtK on Feb. 1.
